ENMU president to address Rotary
Dr. James Johnston, president of Eastern New Mexico University, will speak at the April 13 Roswell Rotary Club meeting.
Johnston is the 12th president of ENMU and the third chancellor of the ENMU System.
He arrived at ENMU with more than 20 years of administrative experience, having served in numerous leadership roles at other institutions throughout his career.
Johnston has succeeded in leading enrollment growth, innovative programming, curricular offerings, and fundraising through traditional and creative partnerships.
He is a first-generation college graduate. Johnston began his education at South Plains College, receiving his Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences in 1986. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences and his Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences from Midwestern State University. Johnston earned his Ph.D. in Health Studies from Texas Woman's University in 2006.
Johnston is originally from Slaton, Texas, and his wife Stephanie is from Las Cruces.

NMOGA president to speak
Doug Ackerman, president and CEO of the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association, will be guest speaker at the April 6 Roswell Rotary Club meeting.

The oil and natural gas industry supports more than 134,000 jobs and $27 billion in annual economic activity in New Mexico.
Ackerman brings more than 25 years of strategic marketing and leadership in food, retail, and agriculture companies.
Prior to joining NMOGA, he was executive vice president of global marketing for EcoGEM, a mineral company that dealt with regenerative agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals, and plastics.
Ackerman also served as CEO of the Dairy Alliance and executive director of the Florida Department of Citrus. He also spent eight years with Publix Super Markets.
He is a decorated combat veteran and a retired U.S. Army Infantry officer with 23 years of service, including two Global War on Terror tours.
