Rotarians to discuss war crimes

Rotarians Marlin Wells and Jack Swickard will speak Thursday about war crimes from their viewpoint as military combat veterans.

Wells served in South Vietnam as an artillery forward observer and later as battalion/brigade artillery coordinator at Dau Tieng (Rocket Alley) and Cu Chi Base Camp.

During his combat tour, he earned 2 Bronze Star Medals and 2 Army Commendation Medals.

Swickard served as a pilot with the 118th Assault Helicopter Company, Bien Hoa, South Vietnam. During his 1-year tour, he flew 1,000 hours of combat assault, medical evacuation, and direct combat support missions in the UH-1D Huey helicopter.

His decorations include 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses and a Bronze Star Medal.
