Update on RFE trip to New York

Here is the latest update on the June 28-July 7 Rotary Friendship Exchange trip to Upper New York.

• We have two slots available for couples or solo travelers. The Lake Ontario-Finger Lakes area is one of the most beautiful parts of our country, and there is an experienced set of host families waiting to welcome you and show you a great time.
 
• We need one more hosting club to host the incoming trip to us in mid-October. We need 5-6 hosting families (5-6 private bedrooms) to host for 2-3 nights.
 
Please let me know if you are interested in traveling to the Lake Ontario-Finger Lakes area or if your club will agree to host the incoming team in October.

Winchester to discuss oil, gas

Jim Winchester, executive director of the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico, will discuss the future of oil and gas in the state during Thursday’s Roswell Rotary Club meeting.

Winchester, who joined IPANM in September 2017, also will discuss the recent legislative session and next year’s session, said Rotarian Betty Young.

Before joining IPANM, Winchester worked several years as a communications manager in Boulder, Colo.

Prior to that, he served as communications director for the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department and the New Mexico Environment Department from 2011-15, working as an appointee under Gov. Susana Martinez.

He formerly worked for 15 years as a news reporter and anchor with television stations in Albuquerque, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and other Midwestern markets.

As the District Conference comes together, financing the cost remains job No. 1.

Currently, there is no dedicated budget for our District Conference. Because we keep our Registration Fees as low as possible, they cover very little of the overall Conference expense. Without your sponsorship, our District Conference cannot happen.
