The families of Roswell Rotary Club members who have died during the past nine months were presented with roses during a memorial ceremony on June 26.

A graveside service will be held for Rotarian Royce “Pancho” Maples at 10:30 a.m. on May 20 at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia.
A meal at First Baptist Church in Artesia will follow the service.

The Rotary Highway Cleanup crew had a great morning gathering the trash on the club’s Roswell Rotary Mile 116-117 on north U.S. 285 on April 12.
“Perfect temperature, no wind, and we picked up 22 bags of trash,” said Gordon Patton, cleanup chair. “There was no coffee or doughnuts left over.”
Rotarians Jon Hitchcock, Steve Henderson, Frank Sturges, Betty Young, Bianca Cheney, J.P. Cheney, Steve Smith, Charles Currier, Richard Altans, and Gordon Patton participated in the cleanup.

As a veteran government affairs, community development, and strategic communications professional, Missi’s understanding of the state’s political climate has allowed her to champion energy, tax, regulatory, and economic diversification issues throughout the state.
A native of Carlsbad, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science, and Bachelor of Science in agricultural communications from Texas Tech University.

City Councilor Bob Corn will be the speaker at the March 13 Roswell Rotary Club meeting.
Bob, a fellow Rotarian, chairs the City Council Finance Committee.
Rotarian Rick Kraft will speak on Feb. 27 about Leadership Roswell, describing the program, its curriculum, and its impact on the community.
Rick has been volunteer executive director of Leadership Roswell since 1992.
The program, sponsored by the Roswell Chamber of Commerce, was launched in 1983 and is the longest-running leadership training program in New Mexico.
Amy McVay Tellez, executive director of the Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico, will speak at the Feb. 20 Roswell Rotary Club meeting.
Barbara Gomez, executive director of Main Street Roswell, will speak at the Feb. 13 Rotary Club meeting.
Carrie-Leigh Cloutier, CEO of CASAKids of Chaves County, will speak at the Feb. 6 Roswell Rotary Club meeting.
She will discuss the program and the services it provides.

He will be joined by former State Rep. Bob Wooley of Roswell.
Swickard and Wooley are longtime members of the David Westphall Veterans Foundation board of directors.
Maj. Gen. Miguel Aguilar, New Mexico adjutant general, will speak at the Jan. 16 Roswell Rotary Club meeting.
Aguilar is a native of Dexter and received his commission from New Mexico Military Institute.
