Rotary Mile cleanup Oct. 12

The Roswell Rotary Club has scheduled cleaning up its Rotary Mile along North U.S. 285 starting at 8 a.m. on Oct. 12.

Club volunteers will meet just before 8 a.m. for coffee and snacks at Mile Marker 116.3, about one mile north of the overpass on U.S. 285.

“It takes an ideal group of 12 people minimum about 1.5 hours to walk our mile on both sides of the highway. Your participation is encouraged to help keep our Rotary Mile from being trashy!” Rotarian Gordon Patton said.

He said gloves, trash bags, and safety vests will be provided.

Club builds Roswell ramp

Roswell Rotary Club members completed another ramp, the latest for Larry Cochrane, at 331 W. Brasher Road, Space 130. Juan Rodriguez, Steve Smith, Jon Hitchcock, J.P. Cheney, Bianca Cheney, and Shawn Powell were club members who participated.

Club completes another ramp

The Roswell Rotary Club has completed another ramp for a Roswell resident with health problems.

The ramp at 418 Wooldridge-Margaret Road was built for George Stewart Jr.

Workers on the ramp were Rotarians Steve Smith, Dan Whitfield, Frank Sturges, Carolyn Mitchell, Richard Altans, Bianca Cheney, J.P. Cheney, and Richard Madison, assisted by Steve Wisdom, Jack Hagie, Ben Reischman, and Pete Griffin.

Gamboa Student of Month

Noah Gamboa receives a certificate naming him Roswell Rotary Club’s Student of the Month from acting President Howard Perry.

Superintendent to address club

Roswell Schools Supt. Brian Luck will speak at the Sept. 26 Rotary Club meeting.

Nguyen is Student of Month

Duy Nguyen is honored as the Roswell Rotary Club’s Student of the Month by club President Chris Lauderman.

Carlsbad Rotarian to speak

Carlsbad Rotarian Karla Neimeier will speak to the Roswell Rotary Club on Sept. 19.

Neimeier is the director of development and communications at CARC Inc., a nonprofit corporation that supports people with developmental disabilities.

Exchange students visit

Two Rotary Exchange students visited the Roswell Rotary Club at its Sept. 5 meeting. The visitors are Emma Kauhajarvi of Finland (left) and Sophia Prandstatter of Austria. Emma is a guest of the Artesia Rotary Club and Sophia is a guest of the Carlsbad Rotary Club.

Shelly Currier to speak at club

Shelly Currier will present the Sept. 12 program at the Roswell Rotary Club.
